Adams family members Chet, Ted, and Opal Fay put a conservation easement on their property in early 2010. Shortly after an CE was put on the property, Spiro and Annette Daskalos purchased the land from the Adams. The property continues to function as a working ranch.
Project Summary
The Lemhi Regional Land Trust purchased a Conservation Easement on the Adams ranching property of 140 acres in February of 2010. The property contains over one mile of Hayden Creek, which has been identified as a high priorty tributary to the Lemhi River. Hayden Creek is the only tributary connected to the Lemhi River year-round currently supporting active Chinook salmon, steelhead, and bull trout spawning and rearing.
Funding for securing this conservation easement was provided by The Snake River Basin Adjudication and Northwest Wildlife Conservation Initiative through The Nature Conservancy.
Project Goals
The Adams Ranch has historically been a working ranch for both cattle and hay production. The Conservation Easement put on the property ensures that the ranch will stay a working ranch, along with protecting the riparian area along Hayden Creek to ensure healthy stream conditions for Chinook salmon, steelhead and bull trout.
